Dolch Second Grade Sight Words Worksheets

Print the pages and give the child five or six words a day, about fifteen minutes. Read the word, trace, then copy it from memory in the last spaces of the row. Teachers can assign the pages as homework across two weeks and quiz a handful of words each Friday. Parents can read the finished words back with the child and have them pick two to use in a short sentence.

These words are longer, and more of them carry silent letters, such as because, right and write. The list looks more like spelling homework than early reading drills, since most children read them already and need to learn the letter order. Frequent errors include writing becuase or wite. Dolch first grade should come before this one. After the second grade list, the third grade list closes out the set.

Medium is the usual size for second grade. Move to Small once the letters stay tidy, or to Large if a child's writing spreads out. Several words here show up on spelling tests, so trace those a couple of times. Use the Style control to try Cursive once handwriting is steady, since many classrooms begin joined writing around this age.
