How do I read a multiplication chart?
Find one factor in the top row and the other in the left column; the product is where that row and column meet. The chart is symmetric, so 7 times 8 and 8 times 7 land on the same number.
Can I print a free multiplication chart?

Is there a practice version?

Why are the diagonal cells shaded?
Those are the square numbers: 1, 4, 9, 16 and so on. Shading them gives learners a landmark and makes the mirror pattern on either side of the diagonal visible.
Which tables should be learned first?
2, 5 and 10 have audible patterns and come first for most children, then 3 and 4, with 6, 7, 8 and 9 last. The chart lets you cover finished rows with a strip of paper and quiz the rest.
