Telling Time to the Hour Worksheets

Twelve analog clocks, every one on the hour: the minute hand points straight up and the hour hand points at the number. The student writes the digital time on the blank underneath (3:00). Hour hands are drawn at the correct angle for the hour, not rotated toward the next number, so the page matches a real clock. First grade, or kindergarten with help.

FAQ

Why does the hour hand look so short?

Because it is on a real clock. Kids mix up the hands most when both are drawn the same length; here the hour hand is half the radius and thicker, the minute hand longer and thinner, and both are drawn the same way on every page of the site.

Do the downloads include answer keys?

Yes, every PDF ends with a key page that repeats the layout with the answers in green. Turn the Answer key switch off for a problems-only file.

Can I get different versions for each student?

Turn on the 5 versions switch before downloading. You get five different sheets in one PDF, each with its own answer key, so neighbouring desks cannot copy.

Is the minute hand always at 12?

On this page, yes: it is the o'clock page. Half hours and quarter hours come in on the next page, and five-minute times after that.

Can kids do these on a tablet?

Yes. Practice online puts a pen tool over the same sheet, so answers (or clock hands) can be drawn with a finger or stylus and wiped for another try.

How do I print this telling time worksheet?

Click Download PDF and print at 100% scale. The page is already sized for US Letter with printer-safe margins, so no fit-to-page fiddling is needed.
