Hundreds Chart

The classic 1 to 100 chart: ten rows of ten with the multiples of ten shaded down the right edge, so the pattern of the tens is visible at a glance. Switch the mode in the panel to a blank grid children fill in themselves, or to a missing-numbers version that hides about a third of the cells and adds an answer key. The 1 to 120 variant is one tap away for classes that count past 100.

FAQ

What is a hundreds chart used for?

Counting to 100, skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s, seeing that adding 10 moves one row down, and spotting patterns in odd and even numbers. It is the workhorse visual for first and second grade number sense.

Why is the last column shaded?

Those cells hold 10, 20, 30 and so on. Shading them makes the tens pattern obvious and gives children a landmark when they count across a row.

Can students fill it in on a tablet?

Yes. Write online adds a pen over the chart, so a child can write the missing numbers with a finger or stylus and clear the page to try again.

Where can I print a free hundreds chart?

Here. Press Download PDF for the filled 1 to 100 chart, or change the mode first for a blank grid or a missing-numbers worksheet. Free, no account, and the missing-numbers version includes an answer key page.

How do I use the missing-numbers version?

Print it and have students write the hidden numbers using the neighbors above, below and beside each gap. Press New version for a different set of gaps, so the second attempt is not from memory.
