How Printivu works
Every generator page opens with a finished sheet and a panel beside it. This page lists what each setting in that panel changes, and what holds true between the preview on screen and the page that leaves the printer.
What the settings do
Each panel exposes the settings that change the sheet, and nothing that does not.
Word Search
- Grid
- 10, 12, 15 or 20 squares per side.
- Difficulty
- Easy keeps words across and down. Medium adds diagonals. Hard uses all eight directions and pulls in the theme's longer words.
- Letter case
- Capitals by default, lowercase for classes that have not met capitals yet.
- Coordinates
- Puts column letters and row numbers around the grid so a class can call out positions.
- Your own words
- Up to 30 words of three letters or more, under your own title.
Word Games
- Scramble hints
- A word bank with each word's first letter, the word bank alone, or no help at all.
- Bingo grid
- 3 by 3, 4 by 4 or 5 by 5 word cards, with or without a free center square. Number bingo uses the classic 75-ball card.
- Cards per page
- One large card or two smaller ones on each sheet, plus a call sheet to read from.
- Your own words
- 3 to 30 words for a scramble, 8 to 40 for bingo, under your own title.
Sudoku
- Size
- 4 by 4 with four digits for young kids, 6 by 6 as the step up, or a full 9 by 9.
- Difficulty
- How many givens stay on the board. Easy leaves plenty, hard leaves you counting.
- Single solution
- Every board has exactly one solution, whatever the difficulty.
Mazes
- Shape
- Classic rectangular grid, or a circular maze that starts in the middle and ends at the one opening on the rim.
- Difficulty
- Easy is a smaller grid that forgives wrong turns. Medium lengthens the corridors. Hard makes a wrong turn expensive.
- Solution
- The route comes on its own page, so you can check twenty of them without solving twenty mazes.
Math
- Operation
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, or a mix of all four.
- Number range
- 0 to 10, 0 to 20, 0 to 100, or a single times table from 2 to 12.
- Problems
- 12, 20 or 30 on a page.
- Layout
- Stacked in columns, written in a row, or packed into a compact grid.
- Missing number
- Turns 7 + 5 = 12 into 7 + __ = 12, which is where algebra starts.
- Regrouping
- Can be kept out of the set, so first graders never meet a carry they have not been taught.
- Beyond facts
- Multi-digit, long division, fractions, place value, rounding, word problems, time and money each have their own page with settings that fit the skill.
Handwriting
- Content
- A single letter A to Z, or any name or word up to 24 characters.
- Line size
- Large for preschool and kindergarten, medium for first and second grade, small once writing is confident.
- Guidelines
- Three-line school ruling with a dashed midline. Letters begin as a full trace, fade to dotted, and the last lines are left empty.
Phonics
- Mode
- Word family builds words from a starting sound and an ending, Missing vowel leaves the vowel box empty, Rhyming matches pairs, Vowel sort groups words by their short vowel.
- Families
- 24 short-vowel families from -at to -ug, two families per page.
- Answer key
- Every mode comes with the key on its own page.
Coloring
- Variant
- Mandalas, repeating patterns, or a bubble letter to color in.
- Pattern
- Circles, waves or triangles, a new arrangement each time.
- Detail
- Easy draws thicker lines and fewer regions. Hard thins the stroke and packs in roughly twice as many.
Paper & Calendars
- Square size
- Graph paper from 1/8 inch to 1/2 inch, 5 mm and 1 cm, drawn to true size.
- Ruling
- Wide 8.7 mm, college 7.1 mm or narrow 6.35 mm, with the margin line where filler paper has it.
- Calendar
- Any month, year or school year from 1900 to 2200, Sunday or Monday start, leap years included.
- Holidays
- US federal holidays by default, with the observed weekday when one lands on a weekend. UK, Canadian and Australian lists, popular observances, or none.
Charts
- Mode
- Hundreds and multiplication charts come filled, blank, or with gaps plus an answer key.
- Name
- Chore and reward charts print a child's name on the sheet if you type one.
- Layout
- Planner and habit tracker run landscape by default; portrait is one tap away.
From the screen to the paper tray
The parts that decide whether a worksheet survives the trip to the copier.
The preview is the file
What you see on screen is what comes out of the printer, line for line. Nothing shifts or reflows between the preview and the PDF.
Answer keys where they exist
Word searches, math sets, sudoku and mazes get their key on a following page. Handwriting and coloring have nothing to check, so the switch does not appear on those pages.
A new sheet, same settings

Letter and A4
Both sizes are laid out inside printer-safe margins. Print at 100 percent rather than fit to page and the margins stay where they were drawn.

The 5 versions switch builds five different puzzles at the same settings in a single file, each with its own key. Neighbouring desks get different pages.
Built for a mono printer
The sheets are line art on white, so a black-and-white laser loses nothing and the toner bill stays flat. The one splash of color is the highlight on a word search key.
