Safety Word Search
Safety word search puzzles put words like FIRE, STOP, CROSSING and STRANGER into a grid that kids hunt through. Teachers can use it around a drill or a health unit, and parents can use it to start a talk about rules at home, on the road and online.

Printing helpPrint one right before or after a fire drill, a bus safety lesson or a talk about internet rules, and let students work in pairs for about ten minutes. When a word is found, ask the pair to say one sentence about it: what does ALARM tell you to do, who is a trusted ADULT. Keep the finished page on a classroom board or the fridge. The list mixes short action words (STOP, LOOK, HELP, CALL) with longer topic words such as EMERGENCY, DETECTOR, SIDEWALK and PERSONAL. Spotting them builds spelling of vocabulary children will meet on signs and in lessons. Younger readers often skip words like CYBER or SCRAMBLE because they cannot sound them out, so read the list aloud first. After this page, a conversation or role play about the same words is the natural next step.
Choose Easy for first and second graders: a 10x10 grid with short words like SAFE and BELT that run across and down. Medium runs diagonals too, so a word like SMOKE can slant across the grid while BUDDY hides in a row. Hard at 20x20 includes backwards words and long ones such as PREPARED, which suits upper elementary. You can also type up to 30 of your own words, for example your school's own drill vocabulary.

- Yes. Words like CYBER, INTERNET, DATA, SHARE, PERSONAL and STRANGER sit beside FIRE, SMOKE and CROSSING. Use Medium or Hard to reach most of the online terms, and talk about each one as it is found.
- Can I add words from my own school safety policy?
- Yes. Switch the panel to My own words and enter up to 30 words, such as the names of your drill steps or your playground rules. The grid is rebuilt around them, with the same answer key and PDF options.
