Weather Bingo Cards
Weather bingo cards built from 39 words, from SUN and FOG to THUNDER and CLIMATE. They suit a weather unit, a morning-meeting routine or a rainy-day family game. Pick a grid, print one or two cards per page, and call the words from the sheet.

About this page
Printing helpPlay it as part of a weather unit or when the real weather turns dramatic. Give each learner a card, then read the words in order from your call sheet and tick each one. A full 5 x 5 board takes a quarter hour, which fits the gap before lunch. Pair it with a quick look out the window: when you call RAIN or SUN, ask whether it matches today. Cotton balls and paper clips are easy markers. Print more pages for extra rounds.
The list has many three- and four-letter words, such as FOG, HAIL, MIST and GALE, so beginning readers practice short vowels and blends. It also has the four seasons, WINTER, SUMMER, SPRING and AUTUMN, and larger terms like CLIMATE and THUNDER for older students. Weather and climate are often confused, which is a good moment to explain that weather changes daily and climate is the long-term pattern. Look-alikes include COLD and COOL.
For kindergarten and first grade, choose a 3 x 3 card and use one card per page. For grades 3 to 5, 5 x 5 mixes easy and harder words. Turn off the free center for a longer game. If you teach a unit on storms, paste only STORMY, THUNDER, GALE, HAIL and BOLT with others into Your own words.
- How do I tie weather bingo to a daily weather chart?
- Before the game, record today's weather together. When you call a matching word, such as RAIN or SUN, have the class check the chart. It links reading to observation.
- Is weather different from climate in the word list?
- Both appear. WEATHER names what happens today, CLIMATE the pattern over years. Use the game to ask which of the other words belong to each idea.
- Are the seasons included in weather bingo?
- Yes: WINTER, SUMMER, SPRING and AUTUMN are all on the list. Note that AUTUMN is used here rather than FALL, so mention both names to students.
