How many short u words are there?
28 across 5 families. The missing vowel page draws sixteen at a time, never two with the same consonant frame, and reshuffles on every click.
Is there an answer key?
Yes, the PDF ends with the same page filled in green. For word family pages that means every word written out; for the sort and matching pages it shows where each word goes.
Can this be done on a tablet?

What are CVC words?
Consonant, vowel, consonant: cat, pen, dig, hot, sun. They are the first words children decode because every letter says its most common sound, and the short vowel in the middle is the sound being taught.
Why are there no pictures?
Pictures make CVC pages guessable (a child names the picture and never reads the letters). These pages work from the letters only, and the missing vowel page is built so that only one vowel makes a real word in its bank.
