Wide Ruled Lined Paper

Print it for daily writing: a journal entry, spelling words or a short book report. A child can fill a page in about fifteen minutes when asked for three or four sentences. Teachers copy a class set with the name and date header on, and parents keep a stack for homework. If paper is not handy, press Write online and write on the screen with a stylus or finger.

At 8.7 mm, each line gives a young writer room for letters that are still big and uneven. The margin line shows where to begin each sentence, and the gap between rules helps tall and short letters stay in proportion. Kids often let letters wander above or below the line, or run text into the margin, so remind them to start at the red line. After this they can step down to college ruled.

Leave Line weight on Light for pencil, since children press hard and the rules fade behind their writing. Choose Regular if the sheet will be photocopied. If your writer has outgrown this spacing, switch Ruling to College; if letters are still large, stay here. Keep the header on for classroom work, or turn it off for home practice.

Is this the same spacing as school notebook paper?

It matches wide ruled filler paper, with lines 8.7 mm apart, so printed sheets look the same as store-bought ones. Print at 100 percent to keep the spacing accurate.

When should a child move to college ruled?

When letters consistently stay small and steady on the line, usually around grades 4 or 5, but it depends on the child. If they still overflow the lines or press hard, keep wide ruled a bit longer.

Is there room for a heading?

Yes. With the header toggle on, the page has a name and date area at the top, followed by the ruled lines. Turn it off if you want rules to start from the top margin.
