Use it for a measuring lesson: have students draw a rectangle that is 5 cm by 3 cm, then count the squares to find the area. Teachers copy it for a half-hour geometry session on perimeter, and homeschoolers keep a few sheets for science graphs. Choose A4 if your printer uses it. Each square is exactly one centimeter, so lengths come straight from counting and area from counting squares. That links ruler skills to multiplication: a rectangle 6 by 4 holds 24 squares. After this comes decimal measurement and scale drawings.

Light is fine for pencil measuring work, and Regular is safer when pages will be photocopied for a class set. Landscape gives more width for number lines and long bar charts. How big is the grid on A4 paper?

On A4 you get 19 squares across and 27 down, compared with 18 by 24 on US Letter. Each square is 1 cm either way, so measurements stay accurate as long as printing is set to 100 percent.

Can I use it to teach area and perimeter?

Yes. Draw a shape along the lines, count the squares inside for area and the unit edges around the outside for perimeter. Because there are no bold lines, kids have to count each square, which builds the habit.

How do I check it printed at true size?

Lay a ruler along the top edge. Ten squares should span exactly 10 cm. If they measure less, your print dialog is on fit to page or shrink; set the scale to 100 percent and print again.
