Rounding to the Nearest 1,000 Worksheets
Four and five-digit numbers rounded to the nearest thousand. Fourth grade territory: the hundreds digit decides, and a 9 in the hundreds place that rolls the thousands over (7,950 to 8,000) turns up regularly. Numbers already at a multiple of 1,000 are excluded.

FAQ
What happens at exactly halfway?
A 500 in the last three places rounds up, the convention taught in US and UK schools and the one the key follows.
Can I get the other rounding targets?
Switch Round to in the panel between 10, 100 and 1,000; the number lengths adjust so the problems stay sensible. Each target also has its own page linked below.
Can students work these on a tablet?
Yes. Practice online puts a pen tool over the same sheet, so answers can be written with a stylus or finger and wiped for another try.
How do I print this rounding worksheet?
Click Download PDF and print at 100% scale. The page is already sized for US Letter with printer-safe margins, so no fit-to-page fiddling is needed.
Why the ≈ sign?
Because 2,769 is not equal to 2,800; it is approximately 2,800. Using ≈ on the page keeps the distinction honest and matches what students will see in later grades.
Do the downloads include answer keys?
Yes, every PDF ends with a key page that repeats the layout with the answers in green. Turn the Answer key switch off for a problems-only file.
Can I get different versions for each student?
Turn on the 5 versions switch before downloading. You get five different sheets in one PDF, each with its own answer key, so neighbouring desks cannot copy.
