How do I use a blank hundreds chart?
Have the child write the numbers in order, one row at a time, saying each aloud. Once that is easy, dictate numbers out of order to place, or have them fill only the even numbers or only the multiples of five.
Is there a version with some numbers already in?
Yes, switch the mode to Missing numbers. About a third of the cells are hidden and the rest are filled, and the PDF includes an answer key page.
Can it be filled in on a tablet?
Yes, the Write online mode puts a pen tool over the grid, so the numbers can be written with a finger or stylus and wiped clean for another round.
Why keep the tens column shaded on a blank chart?
It tells the writer where each row ends and gives a check: if the number in the shaded cell does not end in zero, something slipped earlier in the row.
Can I get it up to 120?
Yes. Choose 1 to 120 in the panel and two more rows are added, matching the common-core convention of counting to 120 in first grade.
