Printing help

Hand it out after a fairy tale read-aloud, or at a castle-themed party. Easy is about five minutes and features short words such as GEM, ORB and KEY. Children can color a crown or castle on the back afterward. For a story unit, ask them to choose three words and tell a short tale. The answer key makes checking simple, the 5 versions switch gives every guest a different board, and the Solve online button works for one child at a tablet.

Fairy tale words fill the list: places (TOWER, GATE, CHAMBER), objects (CROWN, SCEPTER, GOWN) and describing words (ROYAL, NOBLE, MAJESTIC). Seeing them written supports story writing, since many children want to use these words but cannot spell them. Longer words like BANQUET and BALCONY are new for many. Short ones, such as ORB and GEM, hide easily, so scanning every row is the skill practiced.

Easy suits ages five to seven, with short words like KEY, BOW and TOY. Medium adds diagonals and words like TOWER and CLOAK for second to fourth grade. Hard adds backwards words and longer terms for strong readers. For a story project, use My own words to enter up to 30 words, such as a character's name.

Can I add a child's name or character names?
Yes. Switch to My own words and type up to 30 words, including names and favorite castle terms. The puzzle rebuilds, and the answer key matches it.
Is it suitable for a birthday party?
Yes. Print one per guest and use Easy for the youngest children. The 5 versions switch means neighbors do not share a board, so nobody peeks at a friend's page.
What words will be new to young children?
BANQUET, BALCONY, SCEPTER and CHAMBER are the ones many children have not read. Say them aloud after finding them, and ask what each might be in a castle.
