Science Bingo Cards

Science bingo cards using 27 vocabulary words, from LAB and ATOM to MOLECULE and MICROSCOPE. Teachers can use them to review a unit before a quiz, and homeschool families can use them as a lighter way to practice terms. Two cards fit on one page, so a class set of thirty prints on fifteen sheets.

Printing help

Use it as a review game the day before a test or at the end of a unit. Call a definition instead of the word itself, and players find the matching term on their card. The call sheet lists all 27 words in order, so you can read each clue and tick it off. Expect a full 5 x 5 round to fill about a quarter of a class period. Keep the answer key to settle disputes, and run a second round with new cards using the New version button.

The words span chemistry (ATOM, ACID, ELEMENT), physics (MAGNET, GRAVITY, ENERGY), earth science (FOSSIL, VOLCANO) and biology (CELL, BACTERIA). Students practice recognizing spelling of long terms like EXPERIMENT and MICROSCOPE, which are common misspelling traps. NEUTRON, PROTON and ELECTRON look alike on the page, so players learn to read to the end of the word. The game also checks whether students can link a term to its meaning.

For grades 3 and 4, a 3 x 3 card keeps the vocabulary load small, and you can call words with a picture or demonstration. For middle school, use 5 x 5 and call only definitions. Replace the default list with your own unit terms in Your own words, such as a single chapter on cells, so the cards match what you taught that week.

Can I call definitions instead of reading the science word?
Yes, and it works better for review. Read the clue from your own notes, and players mark the matching term. The call sheet keeps the order, so you know which word you are on.
Which grade level fits this science list?
Words like LAB, GAS and ROCK suit early elementary, while MOLECULE, ELECTRON and BACTERIA fit grades 5 to 8. Use a 3 x 3 grid for younger groups and paste your own terms to narrow the level.
How do I make cards for just one science topic?
Paste your topic terms into Your own words, for example only planet and space words. You need at least eight for a 3 x 3 card and 24 for a full 5 x 5 card.
