How is cursive name tracing different from the print version?
The letters are joined, so the child practices the connecting strokes between letters as well as the letters themselves. That is the hard part of cursive, and a name is the most motivating word to practice it on.
Can I type a full name with a space?
Yes, up to 24 characters including the space. Each word is joined internally and the words are separated by a normal gap, so Mary Jane traces as two connected words.
Some letters look different from our school's cursive. Why?
Cursive programs differ most on capitals and on r, z and the join out of b, o, v and w. The lowercase joins here follow the plain style used in most classrooms; if your school uses a distinctive capital, have the child copy the teacher's model for that letter and use this page for the rest.
What line size works for cursive names?
Medium for most second and third graders. Large gives more room for the loops of tall letters like l, h and f; Small suits older students working on a neat signature.
