Printing helpUse it in Sunday school before a lesson, at a family devotion or at a Vacation Bible School station. Easy takes five minutes, and hard fills a longer quiet time. Choose 5 versions for a class and use the answer key to check. Children can also search online with a finger, which works well on a church tablet. Finished pages can be taped into a take-home folder for parents.
The easy list uses familiar names and objects (ARK, LAMB, STAR), medium adds FAITH, PEACE and ANGEL, and hard includes terms like DISCIPLE and PROPHET. Children often meet these words only by ear, so seeing them spelled helps. After the puzzle, ask them to choose a word and tell a story from the Bible that uses it. Familiar names make the harder grid less intimidating.
Preschool and kindergarten can start on easy, with short words in two directions on 10x10. Medium, 15x15 with diagonals, fits grades one to four. Hard, 20x20 with backwards words, suits older children. To match a lesson, My own words takes up to 30 names or terms from it.
