Multiplication Worksheets for Grade 4
Grade 4 multiplication worksheets built on the 2 to 12 times tables, with 20 problems on each page. Parents drilling facts at the kitchen table and teachers building fluency warm-ups can print a fresh page whenever the last one is finished.
About this page
Printing helpUse a page as a timed warm-up of about five minutes or as untimed homework. Many teachers set a quiet timer, collect the sheets and compare each child's own score week to week rather than against classmates. At home, do the first row together and let the child finish alone. Switch on the answer key and have your fourth grader correct their own work in a different color, which makes the slips easy to spot. Five versions let you rotate through a week.
Fourth grade expects every product up to 12 times 12 to come quickly, because multi-digit multiplication and long division both lean on them. Children usually know the easy tables and trip on the 6, 7, 8 and 9 columns, plus the top rows that get less drill. When facts are slow, long calculations collapse into a pile of tiny errors. After this comes multiplying by two-digit numbers.
Pick 12 problems for a short daily habit or 30 when a class needs a longer fluency block. Compact packs the page tightly, and In a row looks closer to a test. Missing number mode asks the child to find a factor, which is excellent preparation for division. If one table keeps failing, use the matching times table page for a few days and then come back here for the mixed set.
- Which tables does this Grade 4 page cover?
- It draws problems from the 2 through 12 times tables, 20 to a page by default. The Problems control also offers 12 or 30 if you want a shorter or longer sheet.
- How do I help with the 7s and 8s?
- Practice them in short bursts, a few facts at a time, and link them to ones the child already owns. Seven times eight is easier when five times eight and two times eight are known.
- Should fourth graders be timed on these pages?
- Timing helps only after accuracy is steady. Start untimed, then add a generous timer and compare against the child's own earlier sheet. Pressure on shaky facts mostly teaches children to guess.
