Divisors 2 to 9, dividends up to three digits, and the remainder is always at least 1 and always smaller than the divisor, so a student who gets R0 or R9 on a ÷9 problem knows immediately that a step went wrong. Is the remainder ever zero?
Not with the switch on. Each problem is built as divisor times quotient plus a remainder between 1 and one less than the divisor, so R0 cannot occur and a zero remainder is always a calculation error.
How do I check a long division answer?
Multiply the quotient by the divisor and add the remainder; the result should be the dividend. Having students do that check on the page is worth more than the key.
Do the downloads include answer keys?

Should remainders be written as fractions or decimals?
The key uses the R form because that is what third and fourth grade programs teach first. Once students move to fractional remainders, the same problems still work; only the final line changes.
Is there room to show the work?
Yes. Multi-digit pages use three or four columns instead of the five or six on fact pages, so each problem has empty space underneath for carrying marks, partial products or the long division steps.
