What do shapes have to do with handwriting?
Every print letter is made of the same pieces: straight lines, curves and closed loops. Tracing a square teaches stopping and turning a corner; a circle teaches a closed curve; a triangle teaches diagonals. Kids who can trace these seven shapes cleanly tend to find letter tracing easy.
Can the child color the shapes after tracing?
Yes, the outlines are closed paths on white, so they color cleanly. It makes the page last twice as long.

Which shapes are hardest?
