Equivalent Fractions Worksheets
Each problem shows a fraction in lowest terms and an equivalent one with a hole in it: 2/3 = ?/12. Most holes are in the numerator; about a third are in the denominator (1/4 = 3/?), which is the direction students find harder. Multipliers run from 2 to 3 at the easy setting and up to 6 at the hardest, so the second fraction never has a denominator past 24.

Why is the denominator sometimes the missing number?
Because finding the numerator by scaling up is easy to do mechanically; finding the denominator means dividing the known numerator by the original numerator first, which checks whether the student understands the relationship rather than the trick.
How are the answers written on the key?
In lowest terms, and as a mixed number when the result is more than 1 (7/4 shows as 1 3/4). If a student writes an unsimplified but correct fraction, that is a teaching moment rather than a wrong answer; the key shows the form most rubrics expect.
Can students work these on a tablet?

How big do the numbers get?
The starting fraction has a denominator of 8 or less and the equivalent one stays at or below 24, so every problem can be done mentally with times-table facts.
What does the Denominators control change?
The largest denominator the generator may use: 6, 10 or 12. Smaller denominators keep the numbers friendly for a first pass; 12 brings in sevenths, ninths and elevenths, which force the general method instead of pattern-spotting.
